BERKELEY -Cal started its final week of spring football practice sessions with a workout at Witter Rugby Field on Tuesday afternoon. After the workout, head coach Jeff Tedford addressed specifics of the format for the Cal Spring Football Experience scheduled to take place at Edwards Stadium this Saturday, April 21.

"It will be pretty much like a game," Tedford said. "Unless something really bad happens Thursday (in practice), which we'll cross our fingers on that, we'll break up into blue and gold teams and play pretty much a game."

"I hope there's a great turnout," Tedford added. "It's going to be a great day. We're going to have some of the NFL guys back, we're going to have a lot of fan interactive things going on throughout the game, so it should be a fun festive day."

Fans of all ages are invited to attend Saturday's free event to watch practice, meet the team, take part in an autograph session, enter to win a trip to Columbus for Cal's game at Ohio State next season, and much more.

The event is part of Cal Day festivities on campus and will take place at Edwards Stadium. Fans can enter the venue at the South Entrance located at the corner of Fulton Street and Bancroft Way in Berkeley. Gates open at 10 a.m. PT, with the team's workout slated to begin at 11 a.m.

In addition to the activities listed above, fans can enjoy the following at the Cal Spring Football Experience.

• Enter to win a pair of 2012 season tickets, autographed memorabilia and more
• Free food for the first 1,500 fans from the San Francisco Soup Company
• Opportunity for one lucky fan to call a play with head coach Jeff Tedford during the event
• Memorial Stadium lapel pin and previous seasons' Gameday t-shirt giveaway

The Cal Athletics Ticket Sales and Service team will also be on hand to provide information and answer questions about 2012 Cal football tickets and the Memorial Stadium renovation.

With a large crowd expected for Cal Day, parking on the campus and in the immediate area is expected to be at a premium. Fans are encouraged to arrive early and/or take public transportation, with the Downtown Berkeley BART station just one block west of Edwards Stadium. For more information on directions and parking options, visit, including a parking map.

Complete and updated details on the day's activities can be found by visiting Cal Spring Football Experience or Cal Day websites.

Cal is preparing for a return to a renovated Memorial Stadium in 2012, opening the season at home against Nevada on Saturday, Sept. 1. Cal's seven-game home slate will also feature Pac-12 contests against Arizona State, Oregon, Stanford, Washington and UCLA, as well as a non-conference tilt against Southern Utah. Cal plays on the road at Ohio State, Oregon State, USC, Utah and Washington State.
