Cal senior Kristina Thorson has been selected to play on the 2006 ProFastpitch Tour. Thorson, a two-time All-American pitcher, will join 10 other Pac-10 players on the 20-person roster following the conclusion of the collegiate softball season.

The ProFastpitch Tour was founded by Team USA players Dot Richardson and Lisa Fernandez. It is designed to help promote the sport worldwide, build an elite level for more than only a few select athletes, expand the sports fan base and create an opportunity for athletes who have graduated from college to continue to play.

The tour culminates with the national championship, which will be held Oct. 27-29 in Oklahoma City. For more information about the PFX Tour, visit

A native of Lake Forest Park, Wash., Thorson finished with a 23-5 record in 2005 and a 1.09 ERA (second in the Pac-10). She is fifth in strikeouts (610) on Cal's all-time career list. Thorson was named to the 2006 USA Softball Player of the Year Pre-Season watch list earlier this week.

The Golden Bears open their season Feb. 10 at the San Diego State Tournament. Cal faces Oklahoma State and SDSU on the opening day.
