Head Coach Joanne Boyle
"I thought the kids did a great job. In the first half, I thought the kids were a little discombobulated. Didn't really match up at the three point line. I thought we did a much better job in the second half. Really executed our offense. We scored well, we weren't really scoring well in the first half. And we got on the boards. We were tied at the half, and we have always been up on them in the past. I thought we did a really good job coming back out and attacking the glass."
On Gennifer Brandon's rebounding
"We just told her that's what she had to do for us. Typically that is her role on this team. She wasn't doing as much in the first half, and then she just got on the glass. I thought DeNesha came back strong and got on the glass for us. And so did Layshia."
On the play of DeNesha Stallworth
"Her offense was flowing for us tonight. She got some great touches. They got in foul trouble and we tried to take advantage when we could."
On Gray-Lawson's second half
"Five for six from the three. She was feeling it. And we tried play-calling a little bit for her and she created some of that on her own. I just thought the whole team was much more focused and knew what was at stake when we were coming down the stretch. We did what we needed to do. I think they were all feeling it (like this might be their last game). I think the underclassmen are playing for the seniors. They don't want their season to end. They have more time at Cal, but they are really playing for those seniors.
On Saturday's matchup with BYU
"I am just happy to be at home. It doesn't matter who we are playing at this point. Everyone is coming and bringing their best game. Again we'll game plan and just be ready."
Freshman forward DeNesha Stallworth
"I was feeling real confident out there. These last few games that we have had, I didn't really play that good. I wasn't demanding the ball and I wasn't posting big for my teammates. So I knew this game I really needed to step it up and be big for my team. I just gave it all I had."
On her 10-for-10 performance at the freethrow line
"It was focus. That is all it was. Focus. I was very focused in the game. And that's all."
On her defensive efforts
"I only had two rebounds at the end of the first half. Coach told me at halftime that they need me big on the boards. I took that personally and just pressed to work harder."
Freshman forward Gennifer Brandon
"It feels great to win this. We are going back home so that pumps us up even more to do even better and win the championship."
"Coach told me to really try to focus on rebounding, that would really help the team. I noticed that it motivates us and really makes us play hard when I get to rebounds, so I tried to focus on that to help us."
On how she was feeling after running up and down the court in the quick pace of the game
"I feel like a 98-year old woman. I don't even know how that feels, but I know it is not good. It was like a track meet. Coach said to bring our track shoes, but we didn't."
