Berkeley - Tailbacks Joe Igber and Joseph Echema highlighted a 90-play Cal Football scrimmage Saturday morning in Memorial Stadium...
Igber, a 5-8, 190-pound sophomore, accounted for 101 yards on just 13 carries, including runs of 27 and 31 yards. Echema, a 5-11, 215-pound sophomore, was equally effective as he ran for 73 yards on 9 carries.
Quarterback Kyle Boller showed no ill effects from shoulder surgery last November as he connected on touchdown passes of 70 yards to Marcus Fields, 70 yards to Philip Pippersburg and 65 yards to Derek Swafford.
"We showed a little spark on offense and that's encouraging," said head coach Tom Holmoe. "We're emphasizing getting the ball in the hands of our playmakers and that seemed to click today."
Cal concludes spring practice sessions on Saturday, April 29 at the Oakmont Polo Fields in Santa Rosa.
