SINGAPORE - California alumnae Natalie Coughlin and Madison Kennedy swam at the FINA World Cup meet held from Oct. 16-17 at the Singapore Sports School, with Coughlin capturing three medals: gold in the 100-meter backstroke in a time of 57.78, bronze in the 100-meter butterfly (58.82) and bronze in the 100-meter individual medley (1:01.29).
Also in the 100 IM, Kennedy placed sixth in a time of 1:03.53 at the short-course meter competition. Kennedy reached a total of five championship finals, posting a sixth-place finish in the 50 back (28.78), finishing sixth in the 50 fly (27.61), placing sixth in the 100 freestyle (55.41) and taking seventh in the 50 free (25.21).
Both of the former Golden Bears will compete in this week's World Cup meet to be held from Oct. 20-21, Wednesday through Thursday, in Tokyo.
