Berkeley - The Cal Athletic Department announced today that the Golden Bear football game against USC a week from Saturday (Oct. 10) will be televised back into Northern California by Fox Sports Bay Area. The game will also be televised live in the Los Angeles area by Fox Sports West. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.

The game became available for local telecasts when neither ABC or Fox Sports Net elected to choose the game for regional or national television. The two networks will choose between the Notre Dame at Arizona State or the UCLA at Arizona games on that day.

Consequently, Cal will miss out on the additional TV revenue that an ABC or Fox Sports Net game would bring. However, it will be able to offer the game on television to its fans in the Bay Area.

With the game at Washington the following week (Oct. 17) set for Fox Sports Syndication package, it means that five of Cal's first six games will have been televised either locally, regionally or nationally.

In other news, Cal return specialist and defensive back Deltha O'Neal was named the Pac-10 Special Teams Player of the Week for his superior outing in Cal's win over Washington State last week.

O'Neal, a junior from Milpitas, accounted for 212 yards of return yardage with six punt returns for 87 yards, including a long of 24, one kickoff return for 49 yards and a key interception return of 76 yards that stymied a WSU bid to take the lead in the third quarter.

Oregon quarterback Akili Smith and Arizona State linebacker Adam Archuleta were the league's offensive and defensive players of the week, respectively.
