BERKELEY, CA - The No. 2 ranked University of California women's water polo team (5-1) defeated UC Davis (5-4), 8-2, in a non-league match Friday at the Spieker Aquatics Complex on the Cal campus.
Seven different players scored for the Bears, led by two goals from redshirt freshman Chris Lane. Cal scored two goals in each of the four periods and were never threatened by the Aggies. UC Davis scored single goals in the first and third periods, tallied by Jamie Koett and Alisa Comfort.
"Overall our play was good and we continue to be strong on defense," said assistant coach Steve Doten. "It was also nice to have balanced scoring. There are some things we need to work on, but we're on track."
The Bears will next travel to USC Feb. 26 at 5 p.m., before competing at the UC Santa Barbara Tournament, Feb. 27-28.
