BERKELEY - Cal senior Emily Friedman has been selected for the 2006 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Softball team. Friedman, who is the Bears' starting second baseman, is pursuing a degree in Integrative Biology and maintains a 3.60 GPA. She is one of 12 players named to the District 8 First Team. The Berkeley, Calif., native will now be considered for Academic All-America honors.
Friedman is fifth for the Bears in batting average (.336) and has played in 52 of Cal's 53 games this season. She has scored 20 runs and is third on the team in RBI (29).
