BERKELEY, Calif. - Cal continues to improve on its best overall and Pac-10 start in school history at 19-3 (10-1 Pac-10).
Today's win was Cal's 14th straight victory at home, dating back to last season, and 17th win in its last 18 home games.
Cal has now won six straight games over the USC, marking the Bears' longest winning streak ever over the Women of Troy. Cal had previously won five straight from the 1989-90 season to the 1990-91 campaign.
Cal is on track to sweep the season series with USC and UCLA for the first time in school history, having won all four games this year. The teams could possibly meet in the postseason.
Cal's Devanei Hampton posted her third double-double of the season and second against USC with 20 points and a season-high 15 rebounds. She grabbed her previous season high of 13 rebounds in the road game at USC Jan. 4. Today's double-double was Hampton's 20th of her career.
Prior to the game, Hampton was recognized for joining Cal's 1000-point club against Washington State Dec. 30. She was presented with the game ball (from Dec. 30) decorated with information honoring the accomplishment.
