Santa Barbara, Calif. - In the midst of a rain-shortened Softball by the Beach Invitational, Cal has kept its focus to stay unbeaten on the season. The second-ranked Bears (13-0) dispatched host UC Santa Barbara, 7-2, in their second tournament game on another wet day in Santa Barbara. The game, which had been scheduled for Friday evening, had to be moved back because of weather delays.

Kelly Anderson got her second win in as many days, this time in a starting capacity. The junior righthander pitched seven innings of three-hit ball for the win. Anderson got into a little trouble in the fifth, when her fielding let her down with two errors. She kept the Gauchos under wraps though, giving up the two unearned runs in the fifth and striking out two.

Cal struck early in the contest, during their opening frame with a three-run rally. Vicky Galindo led off with a double to right center and was driven in by a Lindsay James single for the first run. Kaleo Eldredge followed by serving a single to center and once on base to put runners on first and second. With the double steal on, both advanced a base, but it looked as if they might be stranded until Jessica Pamanian came up with two outs. Pamanian doubled to right center and the Bears were in business with a three-run lead.

Pamanian would follow with an RBI single in the seventh, giving her a team high three RBI on the day. Galindo, James and Eldredge set the table as usual, going 6-12 (.500) and scoring six of the Bears' seven runs.

Cal will be up Sunday against Central Florida, a previously unscheduled opponent. The Bears hope to get that game in before flying home to prepare for next week's NFCA Leadoff Classic.
