Helvie 9th, Rivas 11th on 3m-Board at Pac-10s

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. - California freshman Sam Helvie placed ninth and sophomore teammate Javier Rivas placed 11th on the three-meter springboard at the Pac-10 Men's and Women's Diving Championships on Thursday afternoon at the Weyerhauser King County Aquatics Center. None of the Golden Bears reached the three-meter final, which was won by Arizona State senior All-American Joona Puhakka with a score of 393.75 points.

Helvie scored 283.15 in the three-meter preliminaries and missed making the eight-man final by 7.06 points. Rivas scored 266.60 in the three-meter prelim, while Cal sophomore Mark Wes scored 237.15.

The schedule for the rest of this year's Pac-10 Championships is as follows:

Friday, Feb. 24

11 a.m. Men's One-Meter Preliminaries
1:15 p.m. Women's Three-Meter Preliminaries
4:30 p.m. Men's One-Meter Final
5:30 p.m. Women's Three-Meter Final

Saturday, Feb. 25

12 p.m. Women's Platform Preliminaries
2:15 p.m. Men's Platform Preliminaries
4 p.m. Women's Platform Final
5:15 p.m. Men's Platform Final

The Pac-10 Men's Swimming Championships will take place March 1-4 in Federal Way.
