BERKELEY - Keanna Levy, a 5-10 guard who was named the state of Iowa's Gatorade Player of the Year this past season, has signed a National Letter of Intent to play at Cal, Golden Bear head coach Caren Horstmeyer announced Thursday.
Levy, who attends West Waterloo High School in Waterloo, Iowa, averaged 18 points and seven rebounds while leading her team to the 2003 Class 4A state semifinals. A two-time all-state player, she is listed as one of the Top 100 players in the country by the Blue Star Report and is considered one of the nation's Top 50 players by All-Star Girls Report.
"We are very excited about Keanna and what she can bring to our program," Horstmeyer said. "She brings athleticism, competitiveness and the ability to take people off the dribble. She's come from an incredibly competitive program and knows what it takes to win. In addition, she's a great person and will fit in very well with our team."
Also a two-time Street & Smith's honorable mention All-American, Levy is a member of her high school's student senate.
Levy is the second player from West Waterloo HS to become a member of the Cal program. Golden Bear assistant coach Camille Burkes starred at WWHS before playing collegiately at Wisconsin.
