TEMPE, Ariz. -
Head Coach Joanne Boyle
"It was a hard fought game, a lot of change of possessions. Up and down. One of those games as a coach that you say 'Thank God we won this one. Let's get out of here'."
"I give a lot of credit to Charli and her team. They play hard in games and have just come up a little short. They make us play tough. They make us play ugly. They o a great job."
"The final play was really surreal. I was just watching the whole thing. We set a play. We didn't get anything. We called a time out. We went back, trying something a little bit different, tweak it a little bit. The ball bounces the right way. Ashley grabs the ball on the last second, puts it back in. Sometimes karma just comes your way."
"This win is huge for us. We had a lead down the stretch like we had against Oklahoma, but we stayed in there and kept playing hard. We didn't go away from the game plan and we did all the little things down the stretch. They were on the glass a lot in the first half. We didn't let them get second chance shots in the second half. That was huge for us. We contained. We denied penetration. We didn't foul. We didn't put them on the free throw line, the things they like to do those last five, six minutes of the game. It was huge for us."
Senior forward Ashley Walker on the last play and hitting the game winner
"We drew up one play, called time out, drew it up a little different. Tasha threw it. I ran too far underneath. And Kelsey (Adrian) caught it. My first instinct is to go in for the rebound. My instinct is to go for the ball. She put it up there, she missed. (ASU's center Sybil) Dosty got it. It was either foul, or go for the ball. My first instinct was to foul, but then I decided to go for the ball. I slapped the ball out of her hands, and said 'Please go in'. And it went in. Then we got back into our man defense for the inbounds. All they had was a chuck shot."
