STANFORD - California head coach Mike Montgomery:
We can't give up 82 points and expect to win. To Stanford's credit, they had some guys really play well. They shot the ball well and made plays. We really had a hard time with the (Dwight) Powell matchup. We tried to minimize (Jeremy) Green. I didn't think we did a very good job in the first half, he had 14 (points). Three of those were threes in which we stood there and watched him shoot. We didn't get a hand up, like we didn't trust that he could shoot it. We shot 50 percent, but we couldn't get stops. They shot 72 percent (in the second half), so they kind of had their way with us. It all stemmed primarily from not being able to guard their post guys at the point of attack, and primarily, that means Dwight Powell. Anthony Brown was another one that hurt us. He hit some tough shots as the game was winding down.
Junior Forward Harper Kamp:
We just weren't playing hard enough tonight. For a team that prides itself on defense, we just didn't show up today. You can put in on them, they did play well. Their coaches did a great job of going to the hot hands and setting up mismatches. They did a good job of playing to their strengths. There were no surprises to me. I expect every team in this league to come out and whoop you if you don't play hard.
