BERKELEY - The University of California football squad reached the halfway point of its spring football drills on Saturday with a lengthy scrimmage at Memorial Stadium.

The situational workout featured all four California quarterbacks in action with each player having some success.

"It was a first scrimmage," head coach Jeff Tedford said. "There were certain things we did well. "You could certainly see Joe Ayoob's game experience come into play. He was very comfortable in the huddle and with the speed of the game.

"Nate Longshore had a good grip on things and I think Steve Levy also showed some of the experience he gained at the end of the last season."

Ayoob tossed a pair of touchdown passes on the afternoon, including a 63-yarder to Noah Smith and a 30-yarder to Marshawn Lynch. Lynch and Justin Forsett both had short TD runs in the scrimmage.

California will continue spring drills through April 22.
