March 9, 2010
The following are guidelines for Cal men's basketball fans to purchase tickets to the Golden Bears' NCAA Tournament games and preserve priority seating rights should the team be selected.
NCAA Ticket Information
The field for the 65-team NCAA Tournament will be announced on Sunday, March 14, on CBS TV at approximately 3 p.m. PT. For Cal to qualify, the Bears must win the Pac-10 Tournament in Los Angeles or be awarded an at-large bid.
How Bear Backers May Acquire Tickets
Should Cal receive a bid to the 2010 NCAA Tournament, Cal Athletics will have access to approximately 200 tickets for Cal fans to purchase. Throughout the NCAA Tournament, the opportunity to purchase tickets to Cal games will be based upon 2009 Bear Backer level.
If you qualify as a Bear Backer at the Pappy Waldorf level and above, the following exclusive period to order tickets will be made available: Sunday, March 14, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. There will be a limit of four (4) tickets per person.
If you qualify as a Bear Backer at the Coaches Club level and above, the following exclusive period to order tickets will be made available to you: Monday, March 15, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. There will be a limit of two (2) tickets per person.
If there are tickets remaining, they will go on sale Monday, March 15, at 11:01 a.m. to current Cal men's basketball season-ticket holders and all Bear Backers at the Coaches Club donor level and above.
The phone number to place your order is 800-GO BEARS (800-462-3277). Tickets will be available for pick-up at the tournament site will call window. Interested fans can also directly contact the host site for game tickets, as the host site might have additional tickets for sale. However, it is unlikely that these seats would be located near the Cal section.
When and Where Cal Will Play
Cal will play its first-round game on either Thursday, March 18, or Friday, March 19, depending on the site and the seeding. The specific date, location, and opponent will be available when the pairings are announced on Sunday, March 14. Game times will be announced within a day and will be posted on CalBears.com.
If Cal wins its first-round game, customers who have purchased tickets for the first-round game will automatically be charged and receive tickets for the second-round game. The second-round game will occur two days after the first-round game at the same site, and tickets would be available for pick-up at the arena will call window.
The eight sites for first- and second-round games are New Orleans, Providence, Oklahoma City, San Jose, Buffalo, Jacksonville, Spokane and Milwaukee. Each site has four games and two sessions for Round One and two games and one session for Round Two.
The ticket(s) purchased is only for the session Cal is playing in at the site.
