Head Coach Joanne Boyle
"Just excited to get our first win of the post season. It is all about survive and advance. Give credit to Cal Poly. I thought they did a great job. They run and they really push the ball well. They really got us kind of back on our heels. I thought they did a great job and came out really prepared. I am just happy to come away with the win."
"I thought we were getting beat by dribble penetration in the first half. We were even on the boards at the particular time. We looked disjointed a little bit. I feel like they were pushing tempo and momentum. We were playing at their tempo instead of playing at our own tempo. I thought we did a better job in the second half coming out offensively. I wouldn't necessarily say we did a great job defensively. They missed some shots, but they were definitely looking to attack and take us off the dribble."
"We were scoring better in the second half. We missed some layups in the first half and we were finishing better in the second half. We did a better job on the boards. I thought we did a better job of denying touches to some of their players. We were just letting them run the offense, the dribble drive, that was tough. I thought we did a better job of denying touches."
"You really can't tell how fast a team is watching them on film. We knew they were fast, but we talked about how you have to make adjustments in the first five or six minutes of the game depending on what they do and what they do well."
Sophomore center Talia Caldwell
On what adjustments she and the team made in the second half
"Mainly defensively. First half, we gave them open shots, posts and guards. I didn't really get Abby off the block that well in the first half. I knew I had to work harder in the second half. All of us, really, we didn't feel we were playing that good of defense. It was just score, score, score."
