BERKELEY - The NCAA Men's Water Polo Committee announced tonight (Sunday, Nov. 27) the four teams - UCLA, USC, Princeton and UC San Diego - participating in the 2011 National Collegiate Men's Water Polo Championship. This year's championship, hosted by the University of California, will be held Dec. 3-4, at Spieker Aquatics Complex.
In the first contest, USC (22-3) will play Princeton (21-9). The second match will have UCLA (23-4) versus UC San Diego (17-9). Game times are 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Pacific time respectively on Saturday, Dec. 3. The third-place game will be played at 1 p.m. Pacific time, Sunday, Dec. 4, with the championship game at 3 p.m. Pacific time. All four national championship matches will be streamed live on www.NCAA.com.
Conferences receiving automatic qualification included the: Collegiate Water Polo Association (Princeton), Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (UCLA) and the Western Water Polo Association (UC San Diego). The remaining team (USC) was selected at-large without geographical restrictions.
In 2010, USC defeated Cal, 12-10 in overtime, to capture its sixth national championship title and third NCAA championship in a row. The last time the Golden Bears won the NCAA Men's Water Polo Championship was 2007 when they defeated USC, 8-6, in the national title match. Cal also captured the 2006 NCAA title with a 7-6 win over the Trojans. The Bears own an NCAA-record 13 national men's water polo titles.
UCLA became an NCAA automatic qualifier after winning the 2011 MPSF Tournament, hosted at the Bruins' Spieker Aquatic Center. UCLA won all their matches at the MPSF Tournament in overtime, including topping USC, 10-9 in sudden victory, in the conference tournament's championship match.

The two-day ticket prices include $70 for Lower Level Seating, $50 for an Adult Upper Level Seating and $30 for Senior/Student/Youth Upper Level Seating (seniors are considered age 65 and above, youth are grade 12 and under).
Single-day ticket prices are $40 for Lower Level Seating, $30 for Upper Level Seating and $20 for Senior/Student/Youth Upper Level. Cal also hosted the NCAA Men's Water Polo Championship in 2010 with the participating schools being Cal, USC, Loyola Marymount and St. Francis (New York).
