SEATTLE, Wash. -
Cal head coach Joanne Boyle
On the difference in the game
"Obviously, Sami (Whitcomb) came out and did a great job in the second half, but I don't think it even started there. It started at the beginning of the game. They were setting the tone more than we were setting the tone. In the first five minutes of the game, we miscommunicated. We got in early foul trouble. It started in the first half. They got a lot of confidence. They play hard. They press, and they did some really good things. They set the tone of the game, and that's what started it."
On the 12-1 run at the end to get close
"You're playing the last three minutes of the game trying to come back. We did a good job of executing down the stretch, but we buried ourselves a hole. It was tough to get out of it. You're trading threes for free throws, but they're still far enough ahead."
On finishing second in the Pac-10
"We worked so hard this year to put ourselves in this position, and we didn't do what we needed to do to finish it off. It started from the get-go of the game, and it was about all of the little things. There are certain things this team knows it has to do to be successful, and that's defense and rebounding. We didn't do that, and we were in foul trouble."
