BERKELEY, Calif. - The California men's and women's basketball teams open the 2005-06 season with Rock the Haas Friday, Oct. 14 at 8 p.m. at Haas Pavilion. The free event is open to everyone, and fans will receive free Rock the Haas t-shirts and burritos provided by Baja Fresh while supplies last. Doors open at 7 p.m.
Rock the Haas gives fans their first official look at this year's Golden Bear basketball teams. The festivities include team introductions, three-point shooting and slam dunk contests, fan competitions and performances by the Cal band, The Frontline (a Bay Area hip hop group) and the Cal Dance Team.

Led by McDonald's All-Americans Devanei Hampton and Alexis Gray-Lawson, the Bears welcome the No. 7-ranked recruiting class in the country. Hampton and Gray-Lawson combined to lead Oakland Tech to the 2004 and 2005 state titles.
