Berkeley - The California Golden Bears concluded their 2007 regular season with a 4-2 win over the 20th-ranked Oregon Ducks on Saturday afternoon in Levine-Fricke field. It was also the final home game for senior Alex Sutton. Cal will find out if it makes the NCAA postseason for the 22nd straight year (20th under Diane Ninemire) when the tournament field is announced on Sunday, May 13, between 3-4 p.m. ET (12-1 p.m. PT) on ESPNews.

Cal improved to 33-30 (7-14 Pac-10), while Oregon fell to 42-17 and 7-14 in Pac-10 play. According to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA), Cal boasted the fourth-best strength of schedule in the nation's No. 1-rated conference (RPI). The Bears also had eight wins against top 25 teams.

Cal unlocked a scoreless tie in the bottom of the third when Julie Meyer crossed home plate after Oregon starter Melissa Rice tossed a wild pitch with the bases loaded.

Oregon evened the score at 1-1 in the top of the fifth after Alicia Cook singled to center field with Kristi Leiter on second. Leiter advanced to third and made a heads up base running play when Erika Racklin's throw from center went wide of third base, allowing Leiter to cross the plate.

The Bears got some much needed breathing room in the sixth when Vernae Sevilla notched a two-run single down the left field, allowing Bernice Masaniai and Gina Leomiti to score. Julie Meyer had an RBI after her ground out to the short stop allowed Katie Vickers to score, putting Cal up 4-1.

The Ducks added a run in the top of the seventh after a solo home run by Joanna Gail.

Lauren Frankiewicz collected the victory in the circle to improve to 17-15 after allowing two runs on eight hits with four strikeouts.
