Las Vegas - Senior's Graham Ackerman and Jay Yee have both qualified to compete in Saturday night's event finals at the 2005 Winter Cup, held in Las Vegas. Six gymnasts will be offered positions on the 2005 Men's U.S. National Team based on performances in the all-around and event finals.
Ackerman advanced to the event finals for floor exercise after recording a score of 8.800 on Friday, good for eighth place. The senior co-captain also competed on the high bar, where his score of 8.633 left him in 15th place.
Senior Yee competed in two events as well, advancing to the finals for the still rings after finishing in seventh place with an 8.800. In vault, Yee's other event, he finished with a 7.766, tying him for 38th place.
Freshman standouts Tim McNeill and Colin Christ also competed, but failed to advance to Saturday's event finals. McNeill competed in four events, his best score coming on the high bar where he notched an 8.433, tying him for 19th place. Christ's best also came on the high bar, where he found himself tied for 25th after posting an 8.233.
The event finals will take place tomorrow, Saturday night, beginning at 7 p.m.
