The No. 7 California women's tennis team (11-3, 2-0 Pac-10) routed No. 37 BYU (8-7) in a 7-0 win today at the Hellman Tennis Complex. The Golden Bears won all nine of their matches and dropped only one set in singles play en route to the team's fifth straight victory, 11th overall on the season. The win marked the third time this season that the Bears have earned victories on all nine courts and served as the final tune-up for Cal before the last seven matches of the season, six of which are Pac-10 Conference contests.

Cal got out of the gates in a hurry as doubles courts two and three stomped out BYU hopes for the doubles point with 8-3 victories each. Freshman Marina Cossou and junior Claire Ilcinkas teamed up on court two to clinch the point for the Bears with a win over the No. 60-ranked duo of Dolly Chang and Kristina Doerr. Cal's top doubles team of seniors Susie Babos and Stephanie Kusano proved they are worthy of their No. 45 ranking by taking out No. 35 Jennifer Miccoli and Anastasia Surkova on court one with an 8-7 win, 7-4 in the tiebreaker.

In singles play, No. 64 Ilcinkas got off the court first with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Elizaveta Ezhova to give Cal the 2-0 lead in the match. Senior No. 37 Cristina Visico finished next on court three with a 6-1, 6-2 win against Chie Hayasaka to put the Bears within a point of clinching the match. No. 15 Babos took out No. 86 Surkova on court one next to reach her 20th singles victory of the year, earning the win for Cal.

With the match decided, junior No. 89 Bojana Bobusic got her 22nd win of the year when she completed a 7-5, 6-3 win over Elle Carney on court six before freshman Marina Cossou also reached win No. 22, defeating No. 80 Doerr 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 on court two. Cossou won the super-tiebreaker by a 10-5 score to seal her victory. Kusano was the last to get off her win, getting the 6-3, 6-4 win over Chang on court four to notch the 7-0 sweep for Cal.

The Bears open up a slate of five consecutive Pac-10 Conference matches next week as they travel to face Arizona (March 28) and Arizona State (March 29). Please check CalBears.com for more information.
