BERKELEY - California men's rowing opens Fall competition at the Head of the Oklahoma Saturday, Oct. 1, in Oklahoma City, Okla. The Golden Bears enter the regatta as the defending champions after defeating Harvard and Princeton last year. Cal will send its varsity 8+ boat to attempt to repeat as champions.
Joining the Bears in the water will be Harvard, which took second at the 2011 IRA national championships, host Oklahoma City, Texas and Wichita State.
Featured at the event will be a 2.5-mile head race and then the top crews from that race will compete in a 500-meter sprint race at night.
