BERKELEY - The times and ticket prices for the women's tennis NCAA regional hosted by the University of California next weekend have been set. First round action will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 15, when Fresno State (20-3) plays Sacramento State (23-3) at Hellman Tennis Center in Berkeley. After that match is completed, the host No. 11-seed California Golden Bears (16-8) will play Illinois State (18-3) at 12 noon.
The winners of the two matches held Saturday face off in the second round at 12 noon on Sunday, May 16, at Hellman Tennis Center to decide which team will advance to the NCAA Round of 16 in Athens, Ga. on May 20.
Tickets will be available in advance or on the day of the event. Prices are as follows: adult tickets are $5.00; tickets for children/seniors/students with ID are $3.00. There are no complimentary tickets available for this event. For more ticket information, please call (800) GO BEARS.
This is the 23rd-year in a row that Cal has made a NCAA postseason appearance. Currently ranked No. 14 in the nation, the Bears are led by senior Raquel Kops-Jones, the No. 1-ranked player in college tennis and the 2004 Pac-10 Player of the Year. Last year, Cal advanced to the NCAA semifinals for the fifth time in school history before falling to Stanford to end the season.
