Hickey Pool, Davis, CA - No. 2 Stanford women's water polo defeated the No. 3 Bears (28-6), 6-5, in the semi-final round of the National Collegiate Championship Tournament, Saturday. Cal faces No. 4 UCLA for third place, Sunday at 2 p.m.

The Bears and the Cardinal were tied, 2-2, in the first quarter, but Stanford pulled ahead in the second quarter to have a 3-2 edge going into the half. The Cardinal scored two goals in the third quarter and Cal answered with one goal, but Stanford still had a 5-3 advantage going into the fourth. Although Cal scored two goals in the final quarter, Stanford sealed the victory, adding another goal for the 6-5 win.

The Bears have a 2-4 record against Stanford for the season.
