BERKELEY - Perennial women's soccer powerhouse California has signed 10 players - including multiple U.S. youth national team players and All-Americans - to National Letters of Intent, Golden Bear head coach Neil McGuire announced on Thursday.

The new Bears are Arielle Ship, Zoe Clark, Alexa Vandevanter, Kelly Fitzgerald, Savannah McCann, Lynsey Hromatko, Hannah Koski, Tamara Aboumrad, Maddie Julian and Sam Trenary.

The talented class includes six San Francisco Bay Area products, three who hail from southern California and a New York native. By position, the class almost includes a complete team, with one goalkeeper, three defenders, a midfielder/defender, three midfielders and two forwards. Three play for the same club - Mustang SC.

"We are very excited about our incoming 2013 class," McGuire said. "From an academic perspective, they will uphold the long-held tradition of excellence within our program. As soccer players, they all provide a defining quality that will help better our team. As people, they are - to a person - outstanding young women and will be first-class ambassadors for our fine institution."

Here is more from McGuire on the recruiting class:

The new Bears join a team that has reached the NCAA Tournament in nine consecutive seasons, including last fall, when Cal advanced to the NCAA's second round and produced a 16-6 record.
