Louisville - Led by Eileen Canney's two-hitter, the eighth-ranked Northwestern Wildcats handed No. 25 California an 11-1 loss (five innings) in the final day of the Women 4 Women Invitational on Sunday morning.
The Golden Bears (23-15) return to action Mar. 28 at Pacific, before opening conference play at Oregon on Mar. 30 and Oregon State, Mar. 31 and Apr. 1.
Canney was perfect through three innings until Alex Sutton singled up the middle to lead off the fourth and break up the no-hit bid.
The Wildcats jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead in the first, and got the inning's key hit from Garland Cooper who connected for a home run over left field to give NU a 3-0 lead.
Northwestern would add another six runs in the third inning to take an 11-0 lead. Julie Meyer connected for her fourth home run of the season when her solo shot went over the center field wall in the bottom of the fifth for Cal's lone run.
Cal used all three pitchers, but Lauren Frankiewicz took the loss to fall to 10-6.
