BERKELEY, Calif. - California senior guard Nihan Anaz is one of about 20 players invited to train with Turkey's senior national team this summer.

Anaz hopes to earn a spot on Turkey's 12-player roster that will compete at the 2005 European Championship in her hometown of Istanbul. Turkey's women's national team will be competing at the European Championship for the first time next year.

The first-team All-Pac-10 honoree has played for her country's junior national team and has spent a limited amount of time with the senior squad. In 2003-04, Anaz led the Golden Bears for the second straight season in scoring (14.1 ppg) and in steals (53 total).

She also became the first Cal women's basketball player in three years to earn first-team all-conference recognition.
