The California Golden Bears women's basketball team used their final two home games of the season to help raise money for the Seeds Organization, a charity that benefits orphanages in Africa.
On Thursday, March 5, the Bears wore specially designed shooting shirts during their warmups for the Arizona State game. The girls took their off day on Monday, March 2 to design these one-of-a-kind uniforms with each player creating her own very unique shirt. Head coach Joanne Boyle and assistant coaches Jennifer Hoover and Charmin Smith also created personal designs for the auction.
The shirts were put up for bid in a silent auction held on Saturday, March 7 through the end of halftime of the final game of the year against Arizona. The auction raised $3,055 so far for the Seeds Organization.
Donations to the Seeds Organization can still be made through Angela Niles in the women's basketball office. You can contact Angela at 510-642-9448 or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
