March 15, 2012
BERKELEY - The 2012 Alumni Day for California crew will take place Saturday, March 24, at the T. Gary Rogers Rowing Center (2999 Glascock Street, Oakland, Calif., 94601) with the festivities beginning at 10:15 a.m. Highlighting the day's events will be the unveiling of a new statue at the boathouse dedicated to legendary former Cal men's crew head coach Ky Ebright.
Ebright was one of the finest crew coaches in the history of the sport. He coached three Cal teams (1928, '32 and '48) to Olympic gold medals, a feat not achieved by any other university. He coached at Cal for 35 years, the most by any Cal coach, and his teams captured six intercollegiate varsity titles and four junior varsity titles during his illustrious coaching career.
In addition to the unveiling of the statue, Cal fans can catch an early glimpse at the 2012 Golden Bear crews as the classes will race against each other that day.
Cal fans, families and alumni are encouraged to come and join in the celebration and catch the day of racing.
