GENTOFTE, DENMARK - On the third leg of its European tour, the California men's basketball team played in its fourth game and earned an 81-73 victory over the Danish National Team on Sat., Aug. 20, at Kildeskovshallen, Adolphvej 25. The Golden Bears are 3-1 on their trip through the old world and will conclude with a rematch against the Danes on Sunday, Aug. 21, at 1 p.m. (4 a.m. PT) before the team returns to the Bay Area.

Cal opened up with junior forward Robert Thurman and senior forward Harper Kamp, up front, with sophomore guard Allen Crabbe, junior guard Brandon Smith, and senior guard Jorge Gutierrezin the back court. The quintet pushed the Bears out to a 21-11 lead over the Danish in the first quarter.

Thurman was relentless as he dismantled the interior defense of the Danish team for a game-high 21 points. Gutierrez dropped 13 more, but the Bears got solid contributions from the bench, as well.

Behrens added four offensive rebounds to his final line; all from the second half. Smith tallied nine points and Crabbe dropped six on Denmark.

The Danish stayed close and cut Cal's first-quarter lead to just five points at the half with the Bears up, 43-38.

Kravish replaced Kamp in the lineup as the second half got under way, and helped the Bears stay on top for a 59-52 lead after three quarters. Cal continued to cruise and finished off with an 81-73 win.
