BERKELEY - Stefano Bonomo garnered his second honor of the week when College Soccer News placed him on its Team of the Week, after the Golden Bear scored three goals - including both gamewinners - in California's wins over Duquesne and Loyola Marymount.
The sophomore forward also earned the Muscle Milk California Student-Athlete of the Week honor this week. As with the Muscle Milk laurel, this is Cal's second honor of the season, as senior midfielder Tony Salciccia earned CSN Team of the Week recognition for the week ending Sept. 9.
Bonomo scored twice in Cal's 4-1 rout of Duquesne on Sept. 21 at Edwards Stadium. He scored an eighth-minute goal in the Bears' 1-0 win over Loyola Marymount on Sept. 23 on Goldman Field.
The Hillsborough, Calif., product is tied with Salciccia for the team's lead in goals with a career-high four and is tied with sophomore midfielder Seth Casiple for second on the squad in points (8), behind Salciccia (10).
Cal opens Pac-12 Conference play when it hosts San Diego State at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 28. The Bears then play UCLA at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 30, at Edwards Stadium in a match featured on the Pac-12 Networks.
