Cal vs. Princeton Quotes
Dec. 8, 2007
PRINCETON, N.J. -
Cal head coach Joanne Boyle
On Kelsey Adrian's performance
"She came in in the second half. Rama was having some back spasms so we needed (Adrian) to start the second half really strong. Kelsey came in and gave us a spark. The good thing is that we've been able to go eight, nine, 10 deep with Devanei (Hampton) back. We were looking for that spark, and it happened to be her this game. We needed it."
On Devanei Hampton's play
"Devanei gave us great minutes. Every time she touched the ball she finished and pushed the lead a little bit for us. We needed both of them (Adrian and Hampton) tonight. We've had to play eight games without Devanei. It's about her health. It's about getting her touches and getting her back in the flow. We didn't know if she was going to play until this afternoon. We weren't counting on it. She's helping out. We need to get her game minutes. She did great for the 12 minutes she was in there. More than anything her timing looked great. It's more about her conditioning, which is going to come in time."
On how dangerous Cal can be with Hampton
"It's a great for us. It's a great rotation. Our team just has to settle down. Our team is very easy with new people coming in. When people step out of the lineup, we adjust. When people come back into the lineup, we've adjusted. We need her. We're going to need her down the stretch. It's good to have her back. She gives us numbers and a presence."

On playing her first game this season
"It was good to be back out there. I've been practicing for three days now. It felt good to put it all together in a game. I knew I was going to get a little bit of time. Whatever time I got, I took the opportunity to do whatever I could."
On playing with confidence
"Having knee problems has been a thing with me. Mentally, I just come out and play the game. Scoring is always going to be a mentality for me. I don't plan on changing that."
On Adrian's impact
"Kelsey brings everything inside and out. We didn't think she was going to be a post player when she came in. She's a guard, but she has height. Being able to stretch out the defense is going to open things down low and in the middle. She has three-point range."

On the lift she gave the team
"We needed some energy. We weren't really feeling it as a team. I needed to come out there and pick it up."
On the first half
"We came out a little shaky. We were ready for them, but we weren't looking and being patient enough. We needed to calm down and get the ball inside."
