BERKELEY - Cal has postponed its first spring practice of 2012 due to inclement weather that has left standing water on Witter Rugby Field, head coach Jeff Tedford announced via his Twitter account @CoachTedford on Tuesday afternoon.

"Update - postponing first practice till Thurs - standing water on the field - want 2 make sure in Spring we get quality work in - will still get all 15," Tedford tweeted.

The Bears will now open spring practice on Thursday, March 15, with the sessions scheduled to run through Saturday, April 21.

Cal football will return to a renovated Memorial Stadium in 2012, opening its season at home against Nevada on Saturday, Sept. 1. The Bears' seven-game home slate will also feature Pac-12 contests against Arizona State, Oregon, Stanford, Washington and UCLA, as well as a non-conference tilt against Southern Utah. The Bears have road trips to Ohio State, Oregon State, USC, Utah and Washington State.
