The No. 7 California women's tennis team (12-3, 3-0 Pac-10) defeated Arizona (7-11, 0-2 Pac-10) by a 6-1 score for the second time this season. This time, the Golden Bears took out the Wildcats on the road as junior No. 89 Bojana Bobusic clinched the win for the team with her 6-2, 6-2 straight-set victory over Claire Cox on court six. Cal has now won its last six matches in a row and 10 of the last 11 overall.

The Bears had no trouble going ahead early as all three doubles teams won. The No. 45-ranked senior duo of Susie Babos and Stephanie Kusano clinched the doubles point for Cal with an 8-5 victory over Arizona junior tandem, Claire Rietsch and Danielle Steinberg. Bobusic and freshman Rachael Dillon took an 8-2 win against Claire Cox and Jane Huh on court three to set up the Cal doubles point win.

In singles play, senior No. 37 Cristina Visico claimed a victory when her opponent, Natalia Toporowska retired before the beginning of the second set due to injury. Visico won the first set by a 6-0 count. No. 15 Babos won on court two next, defeating Claire Rietsch 6-3, 6-1 to give Cal the 3-0 lead in the match. Bobusic's clinching victory came next on court six.

Junior Claire Ilcinkas got a 6-3, 6-4 win over Huh on court four to extend Cal's advantage to 5-0 in the match. Arizona's No. 55 Steinberg earned the only point for the Wildcats on the day when she upset freshman No. 16 Marina Cossou in a three-setter, 6-4, 0-6, 6-3. Kusano completed play on the day by getting the 10-6 win in the third set tiebreaker against Ariane Masschelein after each player took one of the first two sets 6-4. Both Kusano and Visico earned their 20th singles wins of the year with today's victories, putting six Bears over the 20-win mark this season.

The Bears will remain on the road to take on No. 15 Arizona State (12-3, 2-0 Pac-10) tomorrow in a noon start in Tempe, Ariz. The Sun Devils defeated visiting No. 5 Stanford earlier today for the team's first victory over the Cardinal in 24 years. Please check CalBears.com for updates and information.
