The No. 7 California Golden Bear women's golf team plays in the first of two Bay Area tournaments, teeing off this weekend at the Peg Barnard Invitational at the Stanford Golf Course. The tournament runs Feb. 19-20 (Saturday-Sunday).
All eight members of the Cal team will be playing at Stanford. The official lineup for the Cal team will be junior Joanne Lee, senior Pia Halbig, junior Danielle Holmqvist, junior Emily Childs, and freshman Nicola Roessler. Sophomores Joi Pentin and Jackie Williams as well as senior Andrea Waters will all be playing as individuals.
The tournament field for the Peg Barnard will include Colorado, Fresno State, Rollins College, San Jose State, Santa Clara, Stanford, UC Davis, Washington, and Washington State.
The Peg Barnard Invitational will be played at the Stanford Golf Course. Cal has already played there once this season, closing out the fall at the Pac-10/SEC Challenge which was held at Stanford. The Bears tied for ninth place in a field featuring the top teams in the country. Joanne Lee was the top finisher for the Bears, finishing fifth at one-under. Lee started that tournament shooting a school-record 65 (-6) in the opening round.

This is the first of two Bay Area tournaments for the Bears. They also will play Feb. 28-Mar. 1 in San Jose at the Juli Inkster Invitational.
