LOS ANGELES - One win away from qualifying for the doubles main draw, the duo of senior's Stephanie Kusano and Susie Babos were eliminated from the Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships presented by Fila today in Los Angeles.

Seeded No. 4 in their flight, the Golden Bear duo defeated Florida doubles Megan Alexander and Lolita Frangulyan 8-6 on Tuesday for the right to advance to the second round and face USC. The Trojans played the Cal pair tough but the Bears prevailed with a 9-8 decision. Facing recent foe Northwestern in the final qualifying match, Babos and Kusano weren't able to do much, falling in a 2-8 decision to the Wildcats.

Babos will be the lone California player left in the All-American Championships as she plays in the singles main draw on Thursday.
