BERKELEY - With football season fast approaching, the California football team kicks off the season with its annual Fan Appreciation Day presented by the Contra Costa Times on Saturday, August 23rd at Memorial Stadium. The day will include a chance for fans to interact with players and coaches from the Cal football team. The Golden Bears are looking for their seventh straight winning season as well as their sixth consecutive bowl bid.
Festivities will run from 12-2 p.m., with a pre-event starting at 11 a.m. by the North Tunnel. The stadium will not open for the event prior to 12 noon. Fans are encouraged to use public transportation (BART) when visiting the Cal campus. For specific parking information, log on to http://pt.berkeley.edu.
In addition to photo opportunities with the players, the members of the team and coaching staff will be available for autographs. We ask all fans to respect the "one autograph per player or coach" guideline this year. The dance team and Oski, Cal's lovable mascot, will also be on site to greet fans and pose for pictures. The California Victory Cannon, which debuted at the 1964 Big Game, will also be on display and available for pictures.
The official 2008 game day shirt, media guides, Cal merchandise and season tickets will be for sale. Free food will be available to the first 1,000 fans courtesy of Rubios. Odwalla will also provide free samples of its products, while the Sports Gallery will also be on hand to showcase classic Cal memorabilia and AC Transit will provide information regarding game-day transportation.
