SANTA CLARA - Following 89 scoreless minutes, both third-ranked California and Santa Clara scored in the final minute of regulation, Friday night at Buck Shaw Stadium. The match eventually ended in a 1-1 draw. After the Broncos netted the first goal at 89:16, senior Tyler Barry sent the contest into overtime on a penalty kick at 89:56. The goal was the first of the season for Barry.

The Golden Bears (3-0-2) remained unbeaten in 2008 with the last two matches ending in draws.

Cal outshot Santa Clara, 9-7, with six of those shots coming in the second half. Sophomores Servando Carrasco and Hector Jimenez each recorded a shot on goal. Cal also earned 11 corner kicks, while the Broncos (1-3-1) had four.

The Bears travel to Stanford next Friday for the Stanford Invitational tournament. Cal faces Drake Friday, Sept. 19, at 5 p.m. on The Farm. The Bears return to Edwards Stadium two days later for a match with high-ranked Creighton on Sunday, Sept. 21, at 12 p.m.
