BERKELEY - Senior Jennie Leander and junior Paige Bowie have been selected to the Pac-10 Women's Basketball All-Academic first team, announced today by commissioner Tom Hansen. Sophomore Lauren Ashbaugh earned honorable mention distinction. The Golden Bears continued to show their strong academic tradition as they were the only team to place two players on the first team.

This marks the second-consecutive selection for Leander to the conference's academic first team for women's basketball, while this is the first time Bowie has been included on the first team. During the 1997-98 school year, Bowie was selected to the second team for both women's basketball and softball, which she plays during the spring.

To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.
