During the fall 2004 semester, Martin served as graduate student instructor at Cal. From 2002-04, she was an assistant women's basketball coach at Merritt College in Oakland, where her duties included game preparation, scouting of opponents, recruiting and monitoring the academic progress of the student-athletes.
Martin played for Merritt in 2001-02 before completing her bachelor's of arts degree in urban education from Cal in May 2004. She went on to earn her master's of arts degree from Berkeley last month. While an undergraduate, Martin served as an office intern for the Golden Bears men's basketball team in 2002-03.

From June 1996 to October 2004, Truax served as the office manager and as a personal assistant for the Insider Capital Group. In those capacities, she managed accounts receivable and accounts payable, assisted with budget reports and administrator profit planning, ordered office supplies and arranged for travel and entertainment.
Truax gained additional experience as a front desk clerk and concierge at the Royal Palms Resort & Spa and as a software trainer for CM-IT Solutions/Computer M.O.M.S.
