No. 6 Cal in Fourth At Stanford Intercollegiate After Two Rounds

STANFORD, Calif. - Despite setting a school record for 36 holes, No. 6 California remained in fourth place Saturday after the second round of the Stanford Pepsi Intercollegiate at Stanford Golf Course. The Golden Bears, who look to defend their 2002 title, fired a team score of 288 today for a two-round score of 577.

No. 1 Duke started the day in second but enters tomorrow's final round atop the leader board at 559. The Blue Devils carded the tournament's low round of 278 on Saturday. Washington dropped from first to second but is only one shot back. No. 5 UCLA is third at 568 in the 18-team field.

Duke's Elizabeth Janangelo started the day in second, one shot back, but now holds a three-shot lead (minus-nine 135) following shooting the tournament-low round of 67. Washington's Amber Prange is second (138).

Sophomore Sophia Sheridan leads Cal in a tie for eighth with a collegiate-best 141 for 36 holes. She fired a two-under 70 on Saturday. Senior Sarah Huarte isn't far behind in a tie for 10th at 142.

Bears' seniors Anna Temple and Claire Dury are tied for 34th at 148, and sophomore Sofie Andersson and freshman Danielle Nash are tied for 43rd at 149. Nash is competing as an individual for Cal in her first collegiate tournament.

The final round tees off tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.
