BERKELEY - Tickets are now available for the 2011 NCAA Men's Water Polo Championship, hosted Dec. 3-4 at Cal's Spieker Aquatics Complex. The four team national championship tournament will include winners from the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, the Western Water Polo Association, the Collegiate Water Polo Association and an at-large qualifier.
First round match times will be 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3. The consolation match will be at 1 p.m. and the championship match at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4.
Tickets for the NCAA Men's Water Polo Tournament are on sale through the Cal Athletic Ticket Office at the Tickets link 2011 NCAA Men's Water Polo Championship Tickets on CalBears.com or through 800-GO BEARS (800-462-3277). The two-day ticket prices include $70 for Lower Level Seating, $50 for an Adult Upper Level Seating and $30 for Senior/Student/Youth Upper Level Seating (seniors are considered age 65 and above, youth are grade 12 and under).
Single-day ticket prices are $40 for Lower Level Seating, $30 for Upper Level Seating and $20 for Senior/Student/Youth Upper Level.
The Cal men's water polo team is currently ranked No. 2 in the nation with a 14-2 overall mark and a 2-0 record in the MPSF. The Golden Bears, led by senior Ivan Rackov, the 2010 National Player of the Year and currently the top scorer in the MPSF with 49 goals in 15 matches, hosts USC this Saturday, Oct. 15 at Spieker Aquatics Complex. The USC-Cal match Saturday is a rematch of the 2010 NCAA title match in which the Trojans upended the Bears, 12-10, in overtime.
Cal last captured the 2006 and 2007 NCAA titles under head coach Kirk Everist. The Bears own an NCAA-record 13 national water polo titles since their first crown in 1973.
