The No. 17 California Golden Bear women's golf team is back in action Oct. 4-6, playing in the 54-hole Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational at the Tacoma Country Club in Tacoma, Wash.

The Bears are the defending champions of the event, winning last year's tournament with a 15-stroke advantage over second-place Stanford. Emily Childs was Cal's top finisher, placing third overall at +5.

This year, the tournament, which is historically been played at the Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Wash., will be played at the Tacoma Country & Golf Club in Tacoma, Wash. as the Sahalee will be hosting the U.S. Men's Senior Championship that same week. The Tacoma Country & Golf Club is a par-72, 6,078 yard course. The field of 14 schools includes: USC, Pepperdine, Stanford, UC-Davis, Gonzaga, Idaho, New Mexico State, Oregon, Oregon State, San Francisco, San Jose State, Washington State and host Washington.

Senior Pia Halbig leads off Cal's lineup. Halbig is coming off a victory at the Mason Rudolph Women's Championship in Franklin, Tenn. In the six rounds she has played so far this season, Halbig has yet to have a single score over-par. She comes in with a 69.0 stroke average.

Junior Joanne Lee is playing in her second tournament of the fall. Lee had three rounds of even-par 72 in Tennessee to open her season.

Freshman Nicola Rössler finished in a tie for 26th place in her collegiate debut in Tennessee. Rössler shot a three-under 69 in the first round of her collegiate career.

Junior Emily Childs, who did not make the Tennessee trip, is returning to the lineup. Childs had a pair of solid rounds in the season-opener in Colorado, shooting one-over in the final 36-holes of the tournament.

Junior Daniela Holmqvist will round out the lineup. Holmqvist has three sub-par rounds this season, including a two-under in the first round in Tennessee and a four-under 68 in the second round in Colorado.
