Feb. 8, 2010
BERKELEY - California football head coach Jeff Tedford will participate in a live chat on CalBears.com this Monday, Feb. 8. Tedford will begin answering questions from fans Monday at noon PT, but fans can begin asking questions now and we will save them for his arrival.
Cal signed 10 high school All-Americans to National Letters of Intent last Wednesday to highlight the addition of 20 student-athletes to the Cal football program for the 2010 season. Cal's 2010 signing class ranks as high as No. 11 nationally by Rivals with the Golden Bears posting the seventh-highest Rivals ranking according to the number of average stars per signee (3.58). ESPN lists Cal at No. 15, while Scout has the Bears at No. 29.
The newcomers will join a Cal football program that ranks second among Pac-10 teams in victories with a 67-35 record since Tedford's arrival in 2002. The Bears have posted winning seasons in each of Tedford's eight campaigns at Cal, making him one of only eight current Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) coaches to have a current run of eight consecutive winning seasons, with only six of the coaches having accomplished the feat at the same school. Cal extended its school-record run of bowl appearances to seven in 2009 with an 8-5 overall record.
Cal will open its 2010 season with the first of seven home games on the schedule against UC Davis on Saturday, Sept. 4. Other teams visiting Memorial Stadium include Stanford, Oregon, UCLA, Washington, Arizona State and Colorado. Season tickets go on sale Monday, Feb. 22. Purchase your tickets online at CalBears.com or by calling (800) GO BEARS.
