BERKELEY - Cal men's basketball coach Ben Braun, who began his college coaching career at Siena Heights University in 1977, will be inducted into the inaugural class for the Siena Heights Athletics Hall of Fame Sept. 25.

Braun coached at Siena Heights for eight seasons, compiling a 148-103 record through 1985. In just his second season there, he led the Adrian, Mich., school to its first-ever winning season, going 24-6 in 1978-79. In 1982, he was named the Michigan NAIA Coach of the Year.

Braun, who spent 11 years at Eastern Michigan after his tenure at Siena Heights, begins his fourth season with the Golden Bears this fall. He is 57-35 at Cal, including an NCAA Sweet 16 appearance in 1997 and an NIT championship in 1999. Braun was voted the Pac-10 Coach of the Year following the 1996-97 season, his first season with the Bears.
