BERKELEY - The California football team hosted its annual Women's Huddle on Friday as over 500 women enjoyed the opportunity to learn more about the game from Cal's players and coaches.

The event is designed to provide a "football outlet" and give women the opportunity to learn all aspects of football. The women participated in various position drills taught directly by the players and coaches that take the field for the Golden Bears.

"The Women's Huddle is always one of the top events of the year," said Cal head coach Jeff Tedford. "The ladies are enthusiastic and good sports. It is fun for our staff and players, and is the event that signifies football season is upon us. I want to thank all the participants for another great time."

Cal opens its 2009 campaign with a nationally televised ESPN2 game against Maryland at Memorial Stadium on Saturday, September 5 (7:00 p.m. PT). Cal fans are being encouraged to participate in a Blue Out of Memorial Stadium for the season-opener by wearing blue to the game.
