BERKELEY - Golden Bear fans attending Saturday's Big Game at Stanford are encouraged to participate in the annual "Big Drive" by bringing canned goods to the Fan Fest area located on the outside of Stanford Stadium.
The event, co-sponsored by Cal's Student-Athlete Advisory Council (Bear SAAC), has become a competitive food drive between the Cal and Stanford athletic departments, and this year, all students and fans are invited to take part. The Big Game will kick off at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Stanford. The winner of the Big Drive will be announced during the Big Game.
All items will be donated to Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo counties. During next year's Big Game, the Alameda Food Bank will be the beneficiary.
In addition to the Big Game, fans can contribute to the "Big Drive" competition by dropping off goods at Haas Pavilion during Tuesday's women's basketball game vs. Saint Mary's. Cal student-athletes will be collecting donations throughout this week and appreciate your support and generosity for this cause.
