(BERKELEY) - Punter Bryan Anger, quarterback Zach Maynard and tight end Anthony Miller were named honorable mention Performers of the Week at their respective positions Sunday by the College Football Performance Awards for their play in Cal's thrilling 36-33 overtime win at Colorado the previous day.

Five Cal players have now earned honorable mention recognition from the CFPA in 2011, with Saturday's trio being preceded by wide receiver Marvin Jones and defensive lineman Trevor Guyton after their performances in a season-opening 36-21 victory over Fresno State during the Battle by the Bay at Candlestick Park on Sept. 3.

Anger punted four times for a 51.0 yard average at Colorado to help the Bears win the field possession game as Cal averaged starting on its 30-yard line, while Colorado averaged starting on its 19-yard line. The effort marked the sixth time in Anger's illustrious career that he has averaged 50.0 or more yards per punt. The four-time Ray Guy Award watch list selection and two-time semifinalist also had a tackle from his position as the holder to help thwart a possible defensive extra point return after Colorado had blocked a PAT attempt by Giorgio Tavecchio.

Zach Maynard

Maynard threw four touchdown passes, with his final scoring toss a game-winning five-yard hookup with half-brother Keenan Allen on the final play of the game in overtime. The connection prompted a jubilant victory celebration for the Cal contingent, and came only two plays after Maynard had found Allen on a clutch 32-yard passing play on first down and 30 yards to go from the Colorado 35-yard line. Maynard finished 18-of-35 for 243 yards, with the four touchdown passes that were the most by a Cal quarterback since Kevin Riley had four against Colorado in 2010. He was also on the receiving end of a 27-yard completion from Allen.

Both of Miller's catches at Colorado that combined for 27 yards were for touchdowns. The pair of scoring grabs marked the first time in his career he had one more than one touchdown reception in a contest and doubled his career touchdown reception total to four.

Anger was honored by the CFPA on a weekly basis for the fifth time in his career, having previously won Punter Performer of the Week three times and once being recognized as an honorable mention choice. Miller's honorable mention selection was his second from the organization, while Maynard was honored by the CFPA for the first time in his Cal career.
